Chapter 395: Your Shepherd, I Ask You to Let Go!

Jun's voice, aged and cloudy, grumbled. The old man picked up the purple clay teapot, poured some tea, and the white jade cup turned a golden yellow. A fragrant aroma of tea wafted around. He offered Lu...The bearded man, fearing a scratch on his neck, stiffened his sturdy frame, “No, no, don't…don't do anything…”

"You can't, you can't hurt us." The bearded man's wife also cried out nervously.

Jo Baoer's face was grim, she didn't show any mercy to these people. Her knife pressed against the big man's neck, the cold metal blade instantly drawing a clear bloodstain, a thin line of blood slowly sliding down...

"Damn it, I'm going out to gather some branches right now!" The big-bearded man, a coward who bullied the weak, readily agreed in panic.

The bearded man's wife burst into tears, "This woman is terrifying."

Jo Bao'er ignored them, and under her feet, Pei Yi nervously twisted her hand in her pants leg.

"Watch him for me." Qiao Baobao shouted to that photographer man.

The photographer seemed taken aback by the sudden request. His dark eyes pondered her for a moment before he spoke.

Joe also couldn't understand why she should trust a stranger, but in this situation, someone had to go out and gather firewood. It wasn't safe for one person to go alone, it took two adults to go out.

If the bearded man stayed, she wouldn't feel safe.

Why not have the photographer stay behind to watch over Pei Yi and Xia Chui Xue, they are so frail.

Trust

She didn't know why she trusted this stranger either. Logically, she should have known a man like him, so cold and aloof, wouldn't stoop to harming someone weak.

And now there's no choice, someone has to go out and gather firewood.

“I went out to collect firewood. I'll be back in half an hour, at most an hour. It's too dark and cold outside, and it's easy to get lost.”

Qiao Baoer squatted down, "Pei Yi, you wait for me here in the stone house, okay"

Pei Yi struggled, his small hand refusing to let go.

"I will be back." Qiao Bao'er whispered a promise to him.

Pei Yi's eyes were slightly moist, and she reluctantly said, "Auntie Jun, you must come back. Don't lie to me."

"Okay."

Qiao Bao'er didn't delay either, she rubbed his little head, and before leaving, glanced at the photographer man, then strode into the dark snowy night.

The big beard was forced forward by Qiao Baier. He was extremely unwilling, "Such weather, coming out is just looking for death..."

"The avalanche swept down and buried all the trees in this area. There's no firewood to be found...and even if you did find some, it would be difficult to get it to burn."

Qiao Bao'er ignored him, picking up her phone with only 15% battery left and switching it to flashlight mode. The light was very weak.

The pitch-black sky pressed down, with sparse snowflakes drifting through it. The surroundings were vast and desolate, giving off an eerie feeling. The gruff voice of the man with a beard echoed in the mountains, at least providing some human sound to bolster courage.

A whole swathe of trees on the hillside had been buried by the previous avalanche. Qiao Bao'er walked in the opposite direction, hoping to find some firewood quickly and get back to the stone house.

"We can't go that far, what if we get lost and can't make it back to the stone house!"

The more he walked, the slower he became. Looking at this desolate and lifeless mountain range, his whole body was shivering from the wind and snow. Fear gripped him, and he turned his head to shout forcefully.

qiao baoer directly pressed the steel knife against his back, her face cold as she urged, "Keep walking forward!"

"You crazy woman!"

The burly man looked menacing, but didn't dare do anything. He continued to rant, "That man just said there was a black bear on this hill... You wanted to kill me!"

Joe Bao'er darkened her face, thinking this dead big beard was really useless, and angrily replied, "Even black bears are hibernating!"

Just then, they all heard some strange movement in a small patch of trees ahead.

It sounded as if some animal had brushed past the trees, making rustling noises.

Qiao Baoer immediately stopped in her tracks, straightened her back, and held up her cell phone flashlight. The light was too dim to make out what it was, but she could tell that about 30 meters ahead, a dark shape was charging towards them.

The bearded man let out a frightened cry, "There's really a black bear!" He turned and ran in panic.

When the Bearded Man turned and ran, he bumped into Qiao Bao'er's side. Her phone fell to the snowy ground and went dark instantly, leaving them in pitch blackness.

The snow-capped mountains froze people solid, their bones stiff. Even breathing the frigid air caused a burning sensation in their lungs.

Walking outside at night is undoubtedly very dangerous.

Qiao Bao'er looked ahead, her legs were also numb from the cold, and her heart was in turmoil. She hesitated whether to run now, but she knew it couldn't be a black bear; bears had already hibernated.

Its sounds do not resemble those of a quadrupedal beast.

The running speed wasn't fast, and the sound of footsteps was somewhat heavy, more like the sound of a human running.

As expected, she was right.

Someone ran toward her.

Jo Baoer let out a sigh of relief and bent down to pick up her phone. The faint light from her phone illuminated the face of this tall, muscular man before her.

Qiao Bao'er was surprised. Anta wasn't swept down the mountain by an avalanche, but reportedly got into a fight with another tourist and fell down the mountain. Unexpectedly, he was still alive.

He was injured in many places. A large wound on his forehead, where his short hair parted, was even clotted with blood, making a gruesome sight.

"How are you" she asked politely.

After making eye contact with her, he widened his eyes, his pupils vacant and bloodshot, tearing at the skin between his teeth. He roared, "You low beings dare to harm me!"

Anta, with his monstrously huge frame, pounced forward suddenly, attacking her.

Qiao Bao'er was caught off guard and thrown to the ground by him. She didn't react at all, and his thick arms clamped down on her throat.

His frenzied strength rendered Qiao Bao'er powerless on the snow. Her breaths grew increasingly rapid, her face contorted with suppressed panic as she struggled relentlessly. His heavy body, crushing down upon her, was immovable, no matter how hard she pushed.

"You dare hurt me, you dare hurt me!" Anta roared out of control. He had gotten into a conflict with a tourist earlier, falling down the mountain and sustaining injuries all over his body. His rage was bursting forth.

He gripped Qiao Baier's neck with excessive force. In the frigid weather, her pale complexion instantly turned a purplish hue. She struggled to breathe, her hands and feet kicking out weakly in resistance.

Qiao Baier's right hand kept searching her waist, her fingers finally landing on the cold steel of a dagger.

She gritted her teeth and with all her might, stabbed at Anata's calf.

Anta suddenly cried out in pain, reflexively clutching his injured left leg as he half-rose. At that very moment, Qiao Baier swiftly pushed him away and scrambled to her feet.

She panted, utterly drained, gasping for breath with every ounce of strength. Her throat still throbbed from the grip that had almost choked her.

"You wretched thing!"

She thought she'd stabbed him hard enough that even if Anta didn't die, he wouldn't have the strength to attack her anymore.

He seemed insane, Anta's thick hand pulling the knife out of his own calf with a sickening gush of blood. He didn't seem to feel the pain, charging forward in a furious rage, "I'll kill you!"

qiao Baoer was still catching her breath, terrified and running blindly in one direction.

Behind him, Anta dragged his injured leg, blood staining the pristine snow. The metallic scent of blood hung heavy in the silent air of the mountains. His massive frame, limping with each step, chased relentlessly, like a ferocious beast...man in the bed, who slowly opened his eyes, meeting her stare.Perhaps Qiao Wenyue had slept for too long in a coma, and his vision was blurred. He called out to Qiao Baier, "Qingqing." His voice was h...
