Chapter 365: Being Picky, Because I Can!
looked at her in puzzlement."I... I’m also going to the residential area," Xie Yujia paused for half a second before speaking."Oh, then let's walk together." Hao Ren still had an expression of innocen...Chapter 365: Proud, and Proud!
Rustle rustle...
When the taxi approached the coastal road, rain suddenly poured along the black coastline towards the shore.
Zhao Yanzi, who was concentrating on looking out of the window, jumped in surprise and scooted closer to Hao Ren's direction from the backseat.
Tap tap tap...
The raindrops hitting the roof of the taxi created a rhythmic sound.
The sultry heat was instantly alleviated by this downpour.
If the clear weather in recent days were calm before the storm, then such tranquility was shattered on this night.
On the surface of the sea, wind and rain rushed fiercely; beneath it, turbulent currents surged.
Zeng Laohou from West Sea personally led a mighty army of ten thousand troops heading towards East Sea Dragon Palace.
The sudden appearance of Zhao Haoran made South Sea Dragon Palace and North Sea Dragon Palace retreat cautiously, causing Zeng Laohou to hesitate as well.
However, with Zeng Yitao detained in East Sea Dragon Palace, Zeng Laohou had no other option but to proceed.
Zhao Haoran's move clearly indicated his intention to wage war against West Sea Dragon Palace.
Zeng Yitao was once a prodigious talent of West Sea Dragon Palace. Due to the intervention of some high-ranking figure, he suffered severe damage to his dragon embryo and could no longer cultivate; yet this did not prevent him from becoming the future successor of West Sea.
This is like Zhao Guang having a lower realm but still being able to control the East Sea Dragon Palace, indicating that strength isn't the key factor in determining one's status.
The dragon race has an extremely long lifespan, so they generally do not develop too many offspring to avoid future disputes. Zhao Haoran, with a thousand years of experience, only had three sons.
Old Uncle Ceng only had one son who unfortunately died in an accident several years ago, leaving him with only this grandson, Ceng Yitao, as his direct heir.
In the West Sea Dragon Palace, Old King Dragon is referred to as Ceng Xin, and Prince is called Ceng Yitao. However, there's no formal king of the dragon race because Ceng Xin is waiting for Ceng Yitao to come of age before formally installing him as the new Dragon King!
Now that Ceng Yitao has been captured, it's like the lifeblood of the West Sea Dragon Palace is in the hands of the East Sea Dragon Palace. Being a decisive person, Ceng Xin immediately made his decision: attack!
A hundred thousand troops set off from the West Sea Dragon Palace and charged towards the East Sea Dragon Palace, causing many small underwater forces to clear away along their route.
On the beach, Hao Ren and Zhao Yanzi's taxi arrived at Hao Ren's seaside villa.
Hao Ren paid for the fare and pulled Zhao Yanzi into the villa.
The distance from the front door to inside was only a few steps. However, while Hao Ren took just a few seconds with his key to open the door, these few seconds saw them drenched by a sudden downpour!
"So cold! So cold!" Unprepared for today's unexpected rain, Zhao Yanzi, who had gone lightly dressed to the banquet, screamed.
With a sound of "click," Hao Ren finally opened the door.
Zhao Yanzi rushed into the villa, looking wet and angry, like a little cloud sparrow seeking shelter in its nest. She shook her entire body and continued stomping her feet.
"Is it Little Zi" came Grandma's kind voice from the living room.
Hao Ren followed the sound of his grandmother's voice and saw her lying leisurely on the sofa, with Xie Yujia in blue polka dots carefully trimming her nails.
"Grandma, it's all that bad uncle's fault! I'm soaked!" Zhao Yanzǐ immediately complained when she saw her grandmother.
Her grandmother chuckled upon seeing Zhao Yanzǐ's cute flushed face. She turned to Xie Yujia and asked, "Xia Jia, do you have any clean clothes for A Zi"
"Okay, Grandma." Xie Yujia placed the nail clippers on a nearby coffee table, carefully wrapped up the cut-off nails in tissues, then went into her room to retrieve a set of fresh pajamas.
“Hmph, hmph…” Zhao Yanzǐ was fuming but seemed powerless with her resentment.
She didn’t want to wear Xie Yujia’s clothes, yet not doing so made her feel even more uncomfortable.
"I’ll change in my room," said Xie Yujia to Zhao Yanzǐ.
"Hmph, hmph…" Zhao Yanzǐ puffed through her nose as if it was the only sound she could make.
Xie Yujia didn’t mind and smiled before walking over to the sofa to continue helping her grandmother with her nails.
"Tomorrow is our outing, so A Zi will be staying at our place tonight" asked Grandma to Hao Ren.
“Yes, Grandma. But I don't know what the weather will be like tomorrow,” replied Hao Ren.
"It'll definitely be good weather tomorrow," said Grandma reassuringly.
The door to Xie Yujia's room suddenly opened and out walked Zhao Yanzǐ wearing Xie Yujia’s pajamas. Zhao Yanzǐ was smaller in stature and shorter than Xie Yujia, which was clearly visible through the clothes. This was what Zhao Yanzǐ disliked most.
Especially when she saw that Xie Yujia wore her own pajamas with a prominent bust, while wearing the same style and size of pajama made Zhao Yanzǐ look flat, which only fueled more hostility within her.
"Come, come, little Purple, come to Grandma!" Grandmother waved her hand to Zhao Yanzǐ.
No matter how good or bad Zhao Yanzǐ's figure was, Grandmother liked her very much.
Dressed in slightly loose pajamas, Zhao Yanzǐ walked with a sway. She pounced into Grandmother’s arms at once and covered up the parts of her body that were easiest to contrast with Xie Yujia.
Grandmother fondly stroked Zhao Yanzǐ's hair and then asked Hao Ren, "Where is Clever still"
"Oh...... He should be returning home with his parents. I came back early with Yanzǐ." Hao Ren said.
Since Zhen Cōngming had entered their family, Grandmother treated Zhen Cōngming like another grandson of hers and doted on him as if he was her heart's flesh. Hao Ren even hesitated about whether or not to tell his grandmother about Zhen Cōngming’s one-sided affection.
"This child is just playful. I'll call Hǎo Zhōnghuá later and ask them to come home early. It really doesn't matter if it's windy and rainy." Grandmother said.
It was obvious that she missed Zhen Cōngming. Unlike Hao Ren, who didn't return every night, Zhen Cōngming came home every single day, making Grandmother's attachment to Hao Ren shift towards the more "adorable" Zhen Cōngming.
"Grandma, I've finished trimming my nails." Xie Yujia carefully put away her nail clippers and said to Grandma.
“Hahaha, they look really nice!” Grandmother held Zhao Yanzǐ in one arm as she raised both hands to admire them for a few seconds.
The skin on her palms was wrinkled, yet the nails were neatly trimmed. It could be seen that Xie Yujia was meticulous even with small things like this.
“Grandma, it's getting late, I should go back to rest.” Xie Yujia slowly stood up and bowed slightly towards Grandmother.
Xie Yujia knew her talent couldn’t match Zhao Yanzǐ’s. Seeing Zhao Yanzǐ’s eyes sparkling today, she sensed that Zhao Yanzǐ had made a breakthrough and felt an even greater sense of urgency.
“Are you going to bed so early” Grandmother held Xie Yujia's soft hand gently, feeling reluctant to let her go.ldn't go too deep; it was merely formal pleasantries. As for Hao Ren and Zhao Yanzi sitting across from each other at the table, they just stared blankly into each other’s eyes. As adults became more f...
